Dear GVCP Member:
NEXT GVCP MEETING: SUNDAY MAY 7th 2:00 PM 71 CENTER ST, GENESEO.
NEXT GVCP EVENT: SATURDAY, APRIL 29th 2:00 PM GVCP PRESENTS THE GENESEE VALLEY PEACEMAKER AWARD TO DR. WILLIAM CALA, SUPERINTENDENT OF FAIRPORT CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT. Interfaith Center, 11 Franklin St. Geneseo. Dr. Cala will give an address entitled “Peace and Resistance” following the award presentation. Dr. Cala is being recognized for—among many things—his courageous decision not to share student information with the Pentagon without careful consideration of this matter by the student’s parents. Dr. Cala’s position is that the school should allow access of student data to the military only with the explicit permission of parents. This decision made national headlines. Despite criticism from some quarters, Dr. Cala held to his principles, demonstrating that he is, indeed, a true peacemaker. Please join in honoring Dr. Cala, and in hearing his thoughts about education, diversity, and peace.
This event is free. The public is invited. We will serve light refreshments.

THIS MONTH’S LETTER: ENCOURAGE PEOPLE TO COME TO THE AWARD CEREMONY FOR DR. CALA ON APRIL 29th! One GVCP member made multiple copies of the enclosed flyer and sent them to his friends with a handwritten note. This type of personal touch encourages people to attend.
If you’ve been meaning to become more active in GVCP, this is your opportunity. In order for the award to be truly meaningful, it’s important that we have a large turnout. We need to show Dr. Cala, the community, and the media that a peacemaker deserves to be respected and publicly honored in our region. PLEASE ATTEND AND BRING YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY!
Peace,
