THIS MONTH’S LETTER: No Need for New Nukes!  The Bush administration has recklessly proposed the development of a new generation of nuclear weapons with the euphemistic name of Reliable Replacement Warheads. It’s hard to believe that the administration wants to build new nuclear weapons, given the huge stockpile the U.S. now possesses.  Congress needs to hear from people who want to reduce the number of nuclear weapons, and who find any new nuclear weapons unacceptable.  The U.S. cannot design and produce new nuclear weapons while insisting that other countries forgo nuclear capabilities.  Building this new weapon of mass destruction is likely to open the door to new U.S. nuclear testing.  To make matters even worse, the Reliable Replacement Warheads and Complex 2030 (the factory where the new weapon would be produced) are expected to cost over 150 billion dollars!  [Peace Action West sent much of this information to GVCP.]

Please write to our Senators and your Representative asking them to oppose the Reliable Replacement Warhead program.  We don’t need it, we don’t want it, and we don’t want to pay for it.
