This Month's Letter: President Bush-Do the right thing in Venezuela. As I write this, the situation in Venezuela is bad and getting worse. By the time you receive this mailing, a coup may have taken place to overthrow the democratically elected President Hugo Chavez. It is hard to be certain how much of the trouble in Venezuela is caused by the CIA and the U.S. State Department. However, we know that our government has done nothing to help stabilize the situation in Venezuela. The White House appeared to endorse the attempted military coup in Venezuela of April 11th, 2002. This apparent endorsement was widely interpreted as support for further coup attempts. Write to President George W. Bush, The White House, Washington, DC, 20500. Tell Mr. Bush to state unequivocally that the US opposes any attempt to remove the democratically elected government of Venezuela by a military coup or other unconstitutional means. Furthermore, the White House should affirm that the US would not have diplomatic or normal commercial relations with a coup-installed government.

Attack Iraq? NO! Yard signs now available! Peace groups are working with the Raging Grannies to cover the Genesee Valley in a blanket of "No Iraq War!" yard signs. Signs are going up all over the U.S., so let's do our part in our communities to show that Americans don't want an invasion. Call 585-244-6759 or email Vicki Lewin-Ryder to get your own yard sign. <vickiryder@juno.com>
