Dear GVCP Member:

NEXT GVCP MEETING: SATURDAY, APRIL 5th, 2:00 PM, 2290 ANDERSON ROAD, LINWOOD. ***NOTE CHANGE OF LOCATION***(A long story!)***NOTE CHANGE OF LOCATION***
[Anderson Road runs west off Route 36, one road south of Route 20. 2290 is 1.7 miles west of 36.]

Peace Actions: Peace Vigils in the chapel at St. Michael¹s church, 23 Main Street, Geneseo, will continue. These are held on Wednesdays, from 12:15 PM to 7:00 PM. All welcome!

GVCP‹alone, or in coalition with other groups‹will be calling for actions against the war as long as the war continues. I have been happy to act as the unofficial clearing station for email messages coming from Rochester and from across the country (and the world). Unfortunately, Margaret Anne and I will be out of town from Sunday, March 23rd through Sunday, March 30th. GVCP member Hank Stone has offered to receive and distribute peace and justice messages. He and I will combine our "GVCP" lists, so we hope to get the information to every GVCP member who wants it. If you haven¹t been getting emails from either of us, and you would like to, please send an email message to Hank: <hstone@rochester.rr.com>.

What you can do now: Find out what activities are available each day, and see in which ones you would like to participate. (If you don¹t have email, call GVCP member Mike Connelly [585-346-2530] and ask him what¹s happening. Mike appears to know about every peace action in western New York! If Mike is unavailable, call Metro Justice [585-325-2560]).

Write to Senator Byrd and Representative Kucinich: Amidst all the rhetoric justifying an unprovoked invasion, members of our "opposition" party in Congress have been pathetically silent. Among the very few to speak up have been Senator Robert Byrd (see enclosed speech, written just before the bombing began) and Rep. Dennis J. Kucinich.

Please call or write Senator Byrd: 202-224-3954. Mail: U.S. Senate, Washington DC 20510. Website with email button: <http://byrd.senate.gov/>. Thank Byrd for his courageous stand against the war.

Congressman Kucinich (D-OH), who leads opposition to the war in Iraq in the House of Representatives, issued the following statement when the U.S. attacked Iraq:

"This is a sad day for America, the world community, and the people of Iraq. Tonight, I hope and pray for the safe return of our troops and the end to this unjustified war." "President Bush has launched an unprovoked attack against another country. Iraq does not pose an imminent threat to the United States or any of its neighboring nations. Iraq was not responsible for the terrorist attacks of September 11. Tonight, President Bush has commanded U.S. forces to go to war in violation of American traditions of defensive war that have lasted since George Washington. This war is wrong; it violates the Constitution and international law."

Congressman Kucinich will issue daily statements on the war in Iraq. To sign up for these statements by email, log on to <http://www.kucinich.us/>. Write or call Rep. Kucinich, thank him for his principled position, and ask him to keep up his courageous struggle against war. Mail: U.S. House of Representatives, Washington DC 20515. Telephone: (House Switchboard) 202-224-3121.

Peace,
