Incredible as it might seem, the Bush administration appears to be actively considering a military strike against Iran. If you
think like Bush and Cheney, it makes sense—What better way to get our minds off Iraq than by starting a new war? This would be especially tempting because the Administration envisions an air war, with horrific destruction in Iran, and few U.S. casualties. Senator James Webb has introduced legislation, Bill S. 759, to prohibit the use of funds for military operations in Iran without express Congressional approval. The bill languished without co-sponsors until recent months, when Senators Sheldon Whitehouse (RI), John Kerry, andHillary Clinton(!) signed on as co-sponsors.
