*This Month’s Letter: Say YES to a diplomatic agreement with Iran! We are all heartened by the progress of a satisfactory diplomatic agreement with Iran. It seems impossible that any politician would want to sabotage such an agreement. However, hawks in the Senate apparently fear an “outbreak of peace.” It’s very possible that the Senate will bring the Corker-Schumer Bill to a vote. This bill represents a complex cat-and-mouse game among the President, the Republicans, and the Democrats. The bill is a roadblock to peace, and we need to oppose it.
The Corker-Schumer bill is meant to derail the peace process. If the Corker-Schumer Bill is approved, the President will veto it. We don’t know if there will be enough votes to override. WRITE to Senators Schumer and Gillibrand telling them that you want peace, not war, with Iran. The bill carries Schumer’s name, so he will surely vote for it if there’s a vote. However, our calls or letters can cause him to at least moderate his position. They can’t hurt, and they could help.
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand & Sen. Charles Schumer U.S. Senate Washington DC 20510.
The Capitol Switchboard number is (202) 224-3121. The official web pages of Sen. Gillibrand & Sen. Schumer have “contact me” links. They’re user-friendly.
Peace,
