NEXT REGULAR GVCP MEETING is SATURDAY, AUGUST 23rd, 1:00 PM (Lunch), 1:30 PM (Meeting).  Omega Restaurant, 4182 Lakeville Road, Geneseo.

SAVE THE DATE: Saturday, September 20th 2:00 PM.  Peace Picnic co-sponsored by Geneseo Peace Action and GVCP.  Al Lorenz (Livingston County) Park, Murray Hill, Mt. Morris. We have reserved a pavilion, so the picnic will take place rain or shine.  More details later, but please save the date.  (This is the weekend of the Climate Change Action in NYC.  Excellent timing!) 
 
Not an easy time to be in the peace movement!  Each of us is bombarded by bad news daily.  As I write this there are terrible conflicts in Gaza, Iraq, Afghanistan, Ukraine, and now in Mali.  There are still calls for sanctions again Iran.  The list goes on and on.  Also, of course, the nuclear threat has never left us, although it’s on the back burner now because so many items are on the front burners.  The suggested letter is, “Urge the President not to attack Iraq again.”  It could be, “Urge the President not to attack _ _ _ _ __ ” and it would work just as well.  However, in Iraq, “We’ve been there and done that.”  We caused a terrible tragedy in that nation, and it looks as if we might go back and do it again.  Still, we can’t let ourselves give up.  Things are bad enough without us peace activists throwing up our hands in surrender.  Hang on everyone—it’s going to be a rough ride.
