This month’s call or letter: Stop the war in Afghanistan! As activist Vicki Ryder wrote, “If you haven't yet let President Obama know how you feel, you're missing the last chance we might have to DO something.” (Anyway, the last chance to DO something before Mr. Obama decides to escalate the war.) GVCP is an activist group. As activists, we’re expected to DO something. Right now, this is that something!

The direct cost of the war in Afghanistan is $105 billion this year! Thousands have been killed in the fighting—many of them Afghan civilians. Military occupation prevents reconstructive efforts. Contrary to what many people think, the war is not helping Afghan women achieve their human rights. The human and financial costs of the war are too high!
