This Month’s Letters: Keep Pentagon spending on the table
Rep. Paul Ryan, and other House leaders want to reduce federal spending only by cutting "domestic, non-security discretionary" spending. They mean cut programs for the public well-being. The House leadership’s proposal exempts the Pentagon and the Department of Homeland Security from cuts, despite the fact that many experts agree that substantial military spending cuts are both possible and desirable. Please contact your representative to urge her or him to put Pentagon spending on the table when spending cuts are considered. [Modified from FCNL] House of Representatives, Washington DC 20515. Most members have paid dues for 2011. Your mailing label should say “Jan 11” if you’ve paid. If it doesn’t say that, either you haven’t paid or I’ve made a mistake. So . . . please pay or send me a note telling me to wake up.
Renew your GVCP Membership. Dues are $40.00 (more if possible, less if necessary). We do not request dues from other organizations with which we exchange newsletters, or from any of our overseas sister organizations. Student affiliates should fill out the form, but need not pay dues. Remember that GVCP doesn’t ask for financial contributions during the year. Membership dues are our only source of income.
