Dear GVCP Member:
NEXT REGULAR GVCP MEETING is SATURDAY, March 29th,
1:30 PM at 2290 ANDERSON RD, LINWOOD NY 14486.
This month's letter: The situation is so complicated in Ukraine and Crimea that even the experts can't sort out the "good guys" from the "badguys." I think the best course is to follow the lead of Friends Committee on National Legislation: War is not the answer to solve the problems in Ukraine and Crimea. Threats of military action are certainly misguided. One former U.S. official suggested that President Obama ought to implicitly threaten the use of our country's armed forces in the western Ukraine. That option is clearly a mistake. It would escalate tensions, and could pour more fuel on the burning fire.
Please WRITE to Secretary of State John Kerry, telling him that the U.S.should use great caution and restraint in this situation. Tell him that you oppose the threat of armed force, as well—of course—as the actual use of armed force. Urge diplomacy to craft an acceptable long-term solution that will be satisfactory
For those GVCP members who use electronic communication, Sec. Kerry's website address is: http://www.state.gov/secretary/ I didn't find it to beuser friendly. You have to search at the bottom of Kerry's picture for "Contact Us" in fine print. When you click on that, you get "Questions and Comments, "but it's clear they prefer questions to comments. Still, I did make a comment—diplomacy not war in Ukraine.
For those GVCP members using postal mail, Secretary Kerry's address is:
