Dear GVCP Member:
NEXT GVCP MEETING is SATURDAY, April 4th **Note change of date and venue** 1:00 PM. Potluck lunch—bring a dish to pass—followed by meeting. We’ll gather at Liz Porter’s home: 71 Center St., Geneseo. (Liz will ask the Geneseo PD to suspend the parking regs. It’s OK to park on the street.)
Save the Date: I hope that some GVCP members and Geneseo PA members will travel to NYC for the International Peace & Planet Conference. This is a conference for a Nuclear-Free, Peaceful, Just, and Sustainable World. It will take place Friday, April 24th and Saturday, April 25th in New York City. The conference will be held just before the U.N. Non Proliferation Treaty Review Conference, which is Monday, April 27th.
On Sunday, April 26th, peace activists will gather by the thousands in the streets of New York City for an international rally and march to the United Nations. Activists from around the world–with 2,000 from Japan, including survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki–will make our demands for a nuclear-free world, for racial, economic, social, and environmental justice, and for an end to military crises and wars.
The Peace & Planet website is an excellent way to find out all the details of these April actions: http://www.peaceandplanet.org/mobilization/
I think that some GVCP members will want to participate in the conference and the rally and march in NYC. I assume that members of our sister group, Geneseo Peace Action, will want to participate as well. GVCP can provide some funds for people who want to attend, but who can’t afford the costs.
This Month’s Letter: Democrats—Don't Side With Republicans on Iran! Tell Senators Schumer and Gillibrand to oppose any legislation that is meant to derail a diplomatic solution and a negotiated agreement with Iran. It’s hard to believe that so many Senators are actually trying to sabotage diplomacy, but that is the reality.
The postal mail address for Senators is: United State Senate, Washington DC, 20510.
