Dear GVCP Member:

NEXT REGULAR GVCP MEETING is SATURDAY, April 6th, 1:00 PM (Lunch), 1:30 PM (Meeting).  Omega Restaurant, 4182 Lakeville Rd (Route 20A) Geneseo.

Save the Dates:

Anti-Drone Weekend in Syracuse: Friday, April 26th – Sunday, April 28th.  We hope many members of GVCP will join anti-drone activists from all over New York State (and beyond) in Syracuse for the Anti-Drone weekend.  The event will take place at the Southwest Community Center, 401 South Ave., Syracuse, NY 13204.  On Friday evening there will be a potluck dinner and concert.  On Saturday there will be workshops and plenary sessions all day, with a keynote address in the evening given by noted journalist/activist Chris Hedges.  On Sunday afternoon we will gather at Hancock Air National Guard Base for a rally and demonstration.  Check the website: <http://upstatedroneaction.org/>  For more information, call Judy Bello at (585) 733-4058, e-mail <judith@papillonweb.net>.

Peace Action New York State will hold its Annual Meeting in Syracuse at the same venue during the anti-drone weekend on Sunday morning, April 28th, 8:15 AM.  All invited!

This Month’s Letters:  Tell our Senators to support S. 505, a bill that would prohibit drone strikes in the United States.  If this bill is passed into law, it would mark the first time that Congress has acted to limit the "war without borders."  This open-ended power was created by the Authorization for the Use of Military Force Act in 2001, after 9/11.  At long last, the "global war on terror" would have a boundary.  Passage of the bill would create a precedent: Congress can act to limit the endless war.  (It’s not the legislation for which we would really hope, but we have to start somewhere!)  Address is Washington, DC 20510.  Check websites for e-mail.  [Adapted from Just Foreign Policy.]

Peace,
